Chef's Pantry

High Quality Kitchen Staples

Dry Goods and Pantry Staples
"We stock an
excellent selection of high quality, kitchen, dry goods. They're part of our Award-Winning Cheese Department and we have come to call this section of the shop our Chef's Pantry. We're talking about hand-harvested sea salt, extra virgin olive oil, rice for risotto and paealla, handmade pasta, assorted vinegars, dry roasted nuts, polenta, olives, honey, jam, etc. The most important thing that I've learned from professional chefs is to use high quality ingredients. These are easy to store and have a conveniently long shelf life. Spending a little more on raw materials will produce an excellent return. We call it affordable luxury. We're going to feature these items from our Chef's Pantry in our e-mail newsletter. Stock and use these key ingredients and you'll impress your friends with your culinary skill and tasteful knowledge."
-John Nash, The Wine Merchant, Ltd.

"At home, my necessary foods fall into two groups that are loosely defined by how often they have to be replenished: the first group includes the longer-lasting staples such as flours and olive and the second consists of the relatively perishable fresh produce and dairy products that have to be refrigerated. If your pantry and refrigerator are stocked with these ingredients, you can be secure in the knowledge that no matter what time it is, and no matter who shows up hungry on your doorstep, there will always be something to eat."

We love this artisan pasta producer. If you're from the old school, Marella has fusilli, penne, rigatoni, spaghetti and ziti that will knock y
our calzini off. If you want nuovo excitement, they have plenty of that, too. We love their Farfalle Arcobaleno, bright, colorful, bowtie pasta that really pops with color even after it's cooked.
